Private fishing at Hotel DAHM

Our fishing location is a section of the Haute-Sûre located 4 km to the north of Erpeldange, with a total length of 4800 m (2 banks of 2400 m). This beautiful river has quite a fast current and an average width of about fifteen metres. Quite a large part of the river is bordered by grassland, which is especially good for fly fishing. The Haute-Sûre is classed as a trout river and is well-known as one of the best fishing rivers in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

During a census carried out by the Administration des eaux et des forêts, the following species were recorded in the Haute-Sûre: Salmonidae: brown trout and rainbow trout, brook trout, grayling. Non-Salmonidae: bleak, eel, barbel, pike, bream, wild carp, bullhead, chub, roach, sneep, perch, rudd, loach, stone loach, pike-perch, tench, European brook lamprey, dace, minnow.

In order to fish, anglers must have a permit from the Luxembourg State (€3/ month). Anglers may only fish with one fishing rod equipped with one fish hook, and the fishing limits (which are marked), minimum fish sizes and the open season for the different species must be observed. Maggot fishing is forbidden, and the maximum number of Salmonidae which can be taken per day is 4 (trout and / or grayling). Below you will find a list of the main species with the open season and minimum size. The species present in our section are marked with * and the dominant species are marked with **.

Chub**, bleak*, sneep**, dace*, bream, gudgeon* and perch* may be caught all year, and there is no minimum size. Bullheads** and minnows* are protected species, it is forbidden to catch them or use them as bait. We can provide our guests with fishing permits at a rate of € 15 per day.

All anglers must have the state permit and hotel on their person and present them for inspection to the gendarmerie, forest wardens and to the managers of the three hotels or their representatives.

Hotel Dahm can also obtain the State permit for you upon your arrival. We are counting on your respect for nature. Please unhook the fish carefully and gently release them back into the river.
